We plant small plots across our property with the largest being about 2/3 acre, here are some pics showing the barriers that protect a small portion so we can see how much is being used. In total we have seven plots consisting of: 1 5/8 acres of various clovers in three plots 1/4 acre of chicory/clover mix in one plot 3/4 acre of buck forage oats/winter wheat mix in two plots 1/4 acre of purple top turnip/kale mix in one plot Chicory - planted 8/25/07, 8" tall inside, 2-3" outside Durana Clover - planted 4/28/07, over seeded 8/25/07, 6" tall inside and pretty much 1" tall ground cover on the outside. Purple Top Turnips - planted 8/25/07, not showing much use now although it has been nibbled on. Buck Forage Oats - planted 8/25/07, 12" tall inside, 3" tall outside And one of my helpers, my 2 year old daughter; this day my four year old son elected to help Pawpaw at the cabin instead of checking the food plots.

great pictures. sometimes we don't realize how much the deer are using our food plots. the deer were really working my clover and have just started in the turnips. I found the turnips work best later in the year after a couple of good frosts and when all the other green stuff is dead. h.h.
