The Indiana Coverts Project Training Seminar is fast approaching – only 5 people are currently registered. We will be forced to cancel if numbers don’t increase. If you know of a forest landowner or other environmentally concerned individual with a strong desire for enhancing woodlands for wildlife, I urge you to invite him/her to apply soon.
The Indiana Coverts Project is a long-term outreach program with the goal to teach forest landowners and others with a strong environmental interest how forest management can benefit forest wildlife species. Participants are expected to pass on what they have learned to their community. This fall we are offering a 2 ½ day training seminar for no more than 30 individuals. Specifically, we are interested in people who have a strong interest in education and Indiana’s natural resources. The seminar will be held on September 29 to October 1 at the FFA Leadership Center in Trafalgar.
At the seminar participants will learn about Indiana’s forests and where, how and why they grow. They also will learn about different wildlife species, their needs, and how to provide habitat for them. Finally, participants also will learn about the many natural resource professionals and organizations available to them and how they can put this knowledge to work on their properties and to help others do the same.
