Here is another home made feeder (from another site) Sometimes a little peanut butter on the end of the stick works to help the deer learn what it is for. Just hang it so the stick is about nose level with a deer.

I try to hang it so the stick is high enough a coon doesn't hit it when cleaning up the ground but a deer still will bump it. Just throw a little corn on the ground to start and they will bump the stick trying to get what is out there. I've started putting a 12 volt motor cycle or lawnmower size battery inside the bucket and use it to run those game cams that take 8 AA batteries.

So far so good. I made the hold in the bottom bigger and put a big washer on it so I could make the hole big or small to use any kind of feed. So far I've only use crack corn.
I just made this about a month ago.
One thing the guy I copied from said was to make sure the stick is high enough off the ground so the coons don't hit it to knock more corn out. If they learn to work it you'll never keep it full. That's why I wouldn't use the peanut butter myself.

How does the corn stay inside ? Seems like just gravity would empty it regardless if something hits the stick or not.

Jack do you have some pictures of the deer you have feeding at that thing. That's a pretty cool get up.
