How are everyone's gardens doing so far this year? My "garden" is three tomato plants stuck in a half whiskey barrel and so far they are doing just fine.

I have tomatoes the size of golf balls. My aparagus is now done. I planted my first patch of pumpkins on Sat. The ones that take 120 day. I will put out roughly 400 more pumpkin, gourd and indian corn seed.

You don't like pumpkin pie much, do you? ;D I have 12 tomato plants out, 2 zucchini plants, 4 grape tomato plants, several cucumber plants, and a row of beans the rabbits devastated. I may have 3 bean sprouts out of a 20 ft row left. And of course she-who-runs-my-life-as-I-see-fit has several flowering 'things' planted. And that is as technical as I get on her end of planting. ;D

My "garden" is currently limited to 3 tomato plants, though I'm hoping to begin building a raised bed garden this year.

I cut back this year. I put out tomatoes, sweet corn, cucumbers, zuchinni, radishes, sweet onions, bib lettuce, & sweet bell peppers. My garden is doing great so far. I pulled a mess of fresh radishes for supper last night. That Miracle Grow is some good stuff!!!!!!

Actually I started planting all that because 6 years ago several women that teach in my build were complaing about how much it cost to go and take their kids and pick pumpkins. I said I would raise some and they could come out. Every year my patch has gotten bigger just so I could plant all the different types of pumpkins. You would not believe how many there are. So every year during the last weekend of Sept. SInce deer season starts Oct. 1. We have a weinner roast pick pumpkins and gourds and corn. Last year each child got 15- 20 big pumpkins and more gourds and corn than I can count . Each child also took little Jack B Quick pumpkins into their classes. So I would say each one left with around 150 things. I dont charge them for anything. I actually enjoy growing the stuff now. I bring the extra stuff into school and sell dirt cheap. Indian corn $1 for 3 ears. Gourd 25 cents each and so on. My butt is so sore today. I put newspapers down the rows to keep the weeds down last night.

Put out Indian Corn last night. It is very, very dry. Rain is hopeful next week. Going to plant some more pumpkins this week and get the newspaper down then the rain will mat them down.

Mine would be doing better if I had more planted...
I think I'm as late getting stuff planted this year as I ever have been. 3 rows of beans, 3 hills of potatos, 10 tomatos and a hill each of zuch's and cuc's. Still need to get another planting of beans, sweet potatos and my onion sets in the ground, as well as my melon/pumpkin patch... The garden won't be as crowded this year, for sure.
I've given up on trying to raise sweet corn. Between the mice, the wind and the varmints, we've had enough ears for a grand total of 2 meals in three years...

The rain & high humidity over the holiday weekend sure made my garden perk up. Got blooms popping out all over the garden.

Dont under estimate the power of a 4 year old boy with his shovel and wearing John Deere clothing. My garden now has a hole in it the size of the Grand Canyon. I guess if we get any rain I'll have a new fishing pond on the cheap.....Little turkey!
