Have 19 persimmon seeds that I planted 2 weeks ago in pots and regular potting soil. I had them stratifying in the 'fridge from the middle of January until I planted them. They weren't in peat or sand (like Dirr said to do...), and I don't know just how cold the 'fridge is set, but it's probably between 35 and 40.
Question is, how long will it take for these seeds to germinate? I have yet to see a single sprout in the two weeks it's been. I hate to give up on them. Dirr says to stratify for 60-90 days at 41 degrees, but says nothing about germination times....

The easiest way to start Persimmon trees for me, has been to save the seeds when working-up a batch of pulp in the Fall. I plant the multi-seed wads & cull all but the the 2 strongest sprigs per wad.

How long after you plant do you see sprouts?
Dad told me it could take up to 6 weeks... We'll see.

Usually within 2-3 weeks if the weather is decent. I plant the wads very shallow (2" max) in our sandy river bottoms soil & make sure they get enough water.
