Text for the Day -- Proverbs 28:3-6 ---------- A ruler who oppresses the poor is a beating rain that leaves no food. Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law struggle against them. The evil do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it completely. Better to be poor and walk in integrity than to be crooked in one's ways even though rich.
Devotional ---------- Wealth is not enough of a reason to abandon one's integrity and become crooked and deceitful. That is a fundamental truth that creates a good society that is focused on God's justice and compassion. Abandoning the will of the Creator as revealed in the Scriptures ultimately destroys the fabric that holds a society together.
Prayer ----------------- Call to remembrance in my mind, Lord, the teachings you have given for a just world. Amen
