Text for the Day -- Psalm 89:1-4

I will sing of your steadfast love, O LORD, for ever;
with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all
generations.
I declare that your steadfast love is established for ever;
your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

You said, I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to my servant David:
I will establish your descendants for ever,
and build your throne for all generations.

Devotional

A nation was chosen - Israel. Within that nation a tribe was chosen -
Judah. Within that tribe a family was chosen - David's lineage.
Within that family a single man was ordained - God's own Son! God's
great redemptive plan was worked out within the fabric of history.
Now, as you become an heir of Abraham and David by the grafting on of
faith to this chosen nation and family, you share in the inheritance
of life forever in the kingdom of God. You, too, have been chosen.
