Text for the Day -- Luke 12:32-34

"Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good
pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give
alms. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing
treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Jesus clearly recognized the destructive power of negative aspects of
our emotions. In this text he speaks about fear. Fear can be faced
and overcome by focusing on faith, that is, trusting in God to serve
your life here and your life everlasting. Don't be afraid to let go
and express your life in love and service to others, trusting that
your own life is secure. God will give you the kingdom and all its
benefits.

Holy Spirit, build up my trust so that my fear does not destroy my
confidence in God. Amen
