Text for the Day -- Psalm 119:73-78 ---------- Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments. Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in your word. I know, O LORD, that your judgments are right, and that in faithfulness you have humbled me. Let your steadfast love become my comfort according to your promise to your servant. Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight. Let the arrogant be put to shame, because they have subverted me with guile; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts.
Devotional ---------- These verses describe a helpful attitude. The psalmist has surrendered in humility to the providence of God. He prays for understanding and God's steadfast love so that he can be consoled and strengthened. He declares hope in God as a witness to those around him. He looks to God to help. Surrendering in humility is hard, but ultimately it is the most helpful attitude in coming to grips with life's ups and downs.
Prayer --------------- Help me to see life from the perspective of your will at work in my life, gracious God. Amen
