Text for the Day -- Luke 9:23-25

Then he said to them all, "If any want to become my followers, let
them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For
those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose
their life for my sake will save it. What does it profit them if they
gain the whole world, but lose or forfeit themselves?"
Devotional

Jesus' call to a faith commitment runs very deep. It challenges us to
a complete surrender to the way of Christ. The way of Christ is the
way of the cross: giving up your own life to live for others; to be
moved by compassion as Jesus was; to submit to God's will in using
your gifts; seeing beyond this world and its temporary desires to a
more permanent kingdom of God.

Assist me, O God, in this surrendering process. Amen
