Text for the Day -- I Corinthians 2:1-5

When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming
the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to
know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I
came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. My speech
and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom, but with
a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might
rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.
Devotional

Paul's experience with God taught him that the real power of the
kingdom of God lies with the Holy Spirit and not with us.The kingdom
is real when the Holy Spirit breaks in with transforming love,
healing and divine protection. Paul admits to his human fears and
weaknesses because he knows that if anything of the kingdom is to
happen, it will be done by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Help me to remember to always look to you, Holy Spirit, for the
presence of the kingdom. Amen
