Text for the Day -- Luke 10:25-28

Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he said, "what
must I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written
in the law? What do you read there?" He answered, "You shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with
all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as
yourself." And he said to him, "You have given the right answer; do
this, and you will live."

The lawyer tried to test Jesus to discredit him. Jesus turned the
tables around with a question, which he often did. The lawyer
answered the question and in doing so answered his own original
question. Jesus agreed with his answer, that the acts of love fulfill
the ultimate requirements of the law. It is still a good question to
ask ourselves. What is the love quotient of my life?

Give me courage to live out my love toward my neighbor, Lord. Amen
