Text for the Day -- Revelation 7:1-3

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the
earth, holding back the four winds of the earth so that no wind could
blow on earth or sea or against any tree. I saw another angel
ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living
God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been
given power to damage earth and sea, saying, "Do not damage the earth
or the sea or the trees, until we have marked the servants of our God
with a seal on their foreheads."
Devotional

In the midst of a vision describing devastations in the earth, a word
is spoken to protect God's faithful. The servants of God will be
marked with a sign of deliverance and protection. For Christians,
that sign is the cross of Christ placed upon the brow at baptism. In
that sign we are sealed as children of God and heirs of God's
salvation. The sign of the cross made on your forehead each day can
help remind you of your chosen-ness by God in Christ's saving death.

Than you, gracious God, for the gift of life in Jesus and the sign of
your victory in the cross. Amen
