Text for the Day -- Psalm 42:9-11 ---------- I say to God, my rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I walk about mournfully because the enemy oppresses me?" As with a deadly wound in my body, my adversaries taunt me, while they say to me continually, "Where is your God?" Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.
Devotional ---------- Tomorrow begins the remembrance of the terrible three days of the suffering, death and burial of Jesus. In the midst of these days as we read of them in the Gospels, it is as if God has abandoned his Son. Yet, hope lives not in what is seen by sight, but by how faith engenders hope in trusting that God will not ultimately abandon forever. This is God's promise to us as well. As we live into our pain and suffering, we are to keep our focus on God's promise for us and not on what we are feeling or seeing by sight.
Prayer -------------- Help me not to be overcome by my struggle, Lord, but to overcome through trust in you. Amen
