Text for the Day -- I Corinthians 6:14-20 ---------- And God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that whoever is united to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, ‘The two shall be one flesh.’ But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Shun fornication! Every sin that a person commits is outside the body; but the fornicator sins against the body itself. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.
Devotional ---------- There is a principle of setting apart or sanctifying in the Bible. It is a way off making something or someone holy by setting apart to God. This setting apart signifies making a commitment to God. When that sacredness is compromised the purposes of God are not carried out. Faithfulness to our calling as God's people calls for a commitment to a particular way so that we do not become defiled or cut off from God. Jesus said that we were to be in the world but not of the world. That is what is meant by setting apart to God. What tends to cause you to forget what you have been set apart for?
Prayer[/b ----------------- Gracious God, strengthen my heart commitment to you and your purpose for me. Amen
