Actually, I was hoping for a velvet buck to mount this year..... as there are only 16 more days to Urban Archery opener! BUT, looks like ours might be out of velvet even before then. Oh well, I'll keep hoping

I shot a velet buck in S. Carolina about 5 years ago and had it mounted. I is small but pretty neat. I bet when I pull my cards this weekend the velvet will be off.

Nice Ernie good looking buck. That feeder is really paying off.

Yeah, the feeders have been a great asset to the property this year.
BUT, this weekend we have to take them out, and clean up those areas..... as Urban Archery will only be 15 days from opener.
The deer will start changing their routines when we do this...... making it harder to pattern them before the opener!

Once the velvet starts shedding, it doesn't take long for them to get it off of the antlers on a typical rack.
My old boss has two bucks penned, and the older of the two would have his antlers rubbed clean in around a day, but he had some weird "kicker" tines here and there....
Did you know they eat the velvet once it's off??
