I emailed the wildlife bioligist and he said it's a Coopers Hawk.

Looks like a Coopers alright. They're very efficient bird killers. I had one staking out my feeder last year. Boy, he sure took a toll!

I guess it could also be a Sharp-Shinned hawk. The one I took the pics of is kind of blueish, and not brown like a Coopers.

Well my bird feeder buddy is back. I'm guessing this is the same hawk that was here last year. He looks all grown up now. Big bird.. Excuse the sloppy pic as it was on 10X and through a window pane. .

When I saw the pic you took last year, I was going to comment on how he might have more success with a slightly less obvious perch, LOL. I suspect he may save you some money on bird feed this season Woody. Hopefully, he'll take only the house sparrows.
