Hey guys, my bro got me a Stealth Cam trail camera for Christmas. It takes film and it says it uses a motion sensor and infared to detect subjects.
Any tips? I figured it might be wise to ask those who have gone before, so to speak. like Jesus said, Ask and you shall recieve, Seek and you shall find, Knock, and the door will be opened to you!

I've got two of those cameras and they do a decent job. Some have complained about problems with them but mine have worked just fine. Batteries seem to last for at least 3 to 4 weeks which is a plus. Set it up where it is facing up or down a run at an angle. Setting it up off to the side and shooting straight at the run will sometimes get the arse end of the deer or no picture at all. IOW- the deer is past the camera before it triggers. Don't face it directly east or the rising sun can trigger it too. Lots of folks use bait to get deer in close to take pictures of. Of course you'll get other critters too. For runs and ditch crossings etc. I leave the camera set at 1 minute intervals. Hopefully a buck is followimg a doe and you can get pictures of both. On bait I would set it for 30 minute intervals. You dont want 24 pictures fo the same doe. Good luck and have fun...

pretty nice units.............................. i have seen some complaints about them. its been my experience that they can run pretty well in cold weather. i get about 2 weeks out of the battery life..................it will trigger............but not have enough juice to rewind the film.............so i put batteries in to rewind the film to avoid negative exposure. i face my camera north ONLY. i tried south............and due to the arc of the sun's path..........still triggered the unit at times. the one nifty tip i learned in this pic..................is that if you dont have suitable trees................bring along a metal fence post, hammer, and zip ties. can work wonders ! also..........save up all the little dessicant packs in shoes, purses etc that will fit inside the unit to eat up moisture............. good luck and have fun. camoham
