I posted this on another site, and thought I'd share here as well. I've seen several mounts where the arrow and tag are laid across the rack of the deer. I don't think it is tacky per-say, but I like my mounts to look like when they came from the field. I do like to showcase the arrow and the tag from that specific animal, so here's what I came up with. This is a picture of one of the walls in my office. I simply cut the arrow from that hunt and hot glued it around the framed picture of that specific animal. Then hot glue the tag as well (still have to add to the one pic). Cheap pipe cutter around $3-5. For carbon arrows I'd imagine you could use a grinder from a dremmel or something. Preserves the memories of the hunt and adds a touch of personality to the picture. I'm also in the process of making a nice knotty pine display case for all the doe tags for each respective year. Just an idea.... PS - the bottom left picture is one of my grandma when she was a young lady shortly after marrying my grandfather. They "HAND BUILT" the small cottage next to her. Wish that was still in the family!

Neat!!
What a way to capture the hunt.
You are an artist.
Another thing to consider is typing up the story behind the hunt and enclosing it in a ziplock bag fastened on the back of the framed picture. Somewhere down the road your descendants can get it out and read just how Great Grandpa took that deer.
