What brand of climber are you using and why? I am using a Ol man because it is pretty light and "I love the mesh seat. I don't like the poor grip it has on trees. I think the Summits grab the tree better. What are your current likes/dislikes about what you have?

Years ago, I borrowed a "Baker Climber" which was one of the original climbing stands. It was a death trap! I climbed up about 18 feet and made the mistake of not standing out on the end of it, got my feet in too close to the tree, and in an instant was at ground zero! Fortunately, wasn't hurt but it was the last time I ever hunted out of a climber. I know they are much improved over the old Baker's, but when your hat gets to the ground about three seconds after you do............that's enough!

Those things were deadly!

Summit here. I have an older Cobra model that I've modified several ways and love the thing. Unfortunately there are only a couple areas where I hunt that a climber will work, so most of the time it stays at home and I hunt out of fixed position stands.

Ive got three, two Timber Tall and one API Grand Slam Mag. The Timber Tall weigh only 14 lbs and adjust to level on each tree. The API weighs 21 lb and is American made, before Bass Pro bought them out and went to China with their production. All of them set real comfortable which is real important to me. h.h.

Add me to the Summit Viper club. I have the older model, with air bladder seat & backrest. I have scoliosis, and the air backrest is the cats pajamas! It's light and super quiet.

I started out with an old Baker deluxe which was pretty dangerous, but got the job done most of the time. Then I used a Warren & Sweat bowhunter climber which was great, but not as comfortable as I'd like. THEN I found Summit's Python and Viper stands and love them! They are easy to hang and remove, no bolts or screws to drop, they are ultra quiet. They are very comfortable and they bite into the tree securely, I have never slipped while climbing in a Summit Stand.
