I like where this post is headed finally some pro lease points were brought up that most of us would agree about like- we are the only ones supposed to be on that property if we lease it. I'll give you an example. I have 5 different properties to hunt in Southern Indiana. Different members of my non-immediate family own all of them and all gladly allow me to hunt. I live up North and have to drive 3.5 hours to get down there. They don't just allow me to hunt though and never seem to know who is coming to hunt the same weekend that I am. Bottom line is I never know who is going to be hunting the property and won't know until I pull up in the dark on Saturday morning. Luckily I use a climber and can quickly drive to other properties if I have to. I've thought of asking for exclusive rights to a property, but don't feel right about it unless I gave something in return. Does anyone else have the same dilema?

I guess I am one of those out of state hunters locals hate to see come in and lease land to hunt... You hear comments all the time, like those rich out of state guys coming in and stealing all our spots... But I can assure you that I am anything but rich...Me and my wife both work and pull in less than 60k a year. It just so happens that I can lease land up in the midwest cheaper than I can lease it in Georgia. Yes we have to pay 150$ for a license, drive 10 hours, get a hotel for a week, and eat out...but its worth it for us to come up there and get the shot at a real good deer. Get used to it fellows, its already happened down here, and guys are paying 20$+ an acre for land that I wouldnt give 2cents to hunt. Its good to see some positive remarks from some people about leasing... cause it has its benefits. But to those that are always negative about it... All i can say is that you have the same opportunity to lease the same farms I do.
