I'm back at work with 127 emails. I guess I'll be busy all day. I've learned a lot this year hunting. I have two stands at my brothers and now in life I get more days to hunt. Being empty nesters and 5 weeks of vacation it not an issue hunting a full week plus. I over hunted the two stands this past 6 day hunts and only saw deer for the most part the first two days. I hunted the wind 100%, but I think the dry leaves noise and just being on stand pushes the deer away. I scouted and have two good new stand locations. There is a third location that is about 300 yards away from the other two stands locations. I have not found a good tree yet for that location. The other two I have the tree picked out. Hopefully next year I'll have 5 stand locations. I plan to invest in 3 20 feet 1.5 wide ladder stands. Two stands locations will only be 100 yards apart, but there is a ridge that runs between the stands locations. This way if they move to that side I can adjust and move. If all works out I will have my new place somewhere close to my brothers place in a couple years. Like stated planning to buy around 30 to 60 acres in Dearborn, Ohio or Switzerland counties. Good luck out there and bag a good deer for either freezer and wall. I bought property in Switzerland county in 2015 at a good price. Land has almost tripled in price since then. Switzerland county is a beautiful place and my family loves our hunting property. Land is always a great investment with very low risks.

went back to my camper trailer for lunch and they were all over the outside. When I open the door, bunches of them flew inside! Your lucky, but they do seem to be all gone, now 🤷🏼♂️ I use to have a log home in Brown County and the lady bugs would invade the cabin the first part of October. I use to spray the outside of the log home Labor Day weekend or I would have thousands inside my windows every time the sun came out. The are good for nature but not household friendly.

Saw 5 bucks today between 9:30 and 11:30, all of them were cruising on the same trail. 4 of the 5 bucks were right at their ears. The fifth one was a fork horn. Also had two does stroll by at 10:30.
Back in the stand now but don’t expect the deer to move until dark. The last two days they moved right at dark.

My 13 year old son hunts by himself now. He has been in our 2 man stands since he was 7 so he knows what to do. He also wears a safety harness so he safe. He has a cell phone So he texts me once he is up the tree. He hunts with crossbow and a .243.

Well here I sit this morning in my favorite spot so far. Deer action has picked up tremendously since last weekend. Already had to replace batteries again this morning. I don't think they make them like they use to. I thought Energizer batteries were the best, if so then I must have gotten a bad pack I buy Duracell Optimum batteries and they last all season. If you watch Walgreens, you find them on sale for but one get one free.

One thing is they don’t burn the fields like they did when the military ran it. The fields gave lots of browse for the deer. Lots of areas now are over ran with autumn Oliver and very little fresh browse for them.

I would buy for future place to move to. Looks like a nice house and not to big. When I retire in about 2.5 years I plan to sell my place and buy a 30-50 acre farm in Ohio or Switzerland counties. Already started looking to get an ideal on what I can buy. Looks like it will be around 50 acres. It all depends on the house. Land prices have doubled in Switzerland county over the last 4 years. Good luck on finding a place. Properties sell within days recently.

Waiting for my 2 spypoints to come in the mail. I got tired of checking SD cards. I have 4 SPYPOINT cameras out year round and love them. I do recommend buying the Duracell gold batteries because they will last all season. The batteries are pricey but pay for themselves over other brands.

The last two times we hunted 75 we saw zero deer. I shot a nice 10 point many years ago on opening day and it was chasing a doe. Huge oak trees on the south end and scrub trees on the north end. If you hunt it, hun on the far south side close to the open field or in the middle between the s rub trees and huge oaks.

That is unreal and sad popcorn. That place use to be full of deer. EHD of 13?? Really wiped them out. I run in there everyday May through September and i could go weeks without seeing a deer When it went to OPEN bow hunting with no draw needed IMO it went downhill. The only time a refugee tag can be used is the muzzleloader draw. we did not hear one shot all day.
