Very sorry to hear about your niece and her husband. It sounds like they’ve got some amazing people supporting them! That was very good of you.

Before you buy a plug in hybrid, check to see how long the batteries last before they need to be replaced, and at what cost. Since I live in the country, I still wouldn't go anything battery. Good call!

With my son turning 16 next year, he will be acquiring my Honda civic and we will be in the market for a new/newer car for my wife. Our other vehicle that’s my wife’s daily driver and my recreational car is a RAV 4 adventure package that has a 4 cylinder, gets 30mpg, and has a good enough towing capacity to drag around my bass boat and I use for hunting. I’m the type that likes to buy a car for the long haul. I also go for fuel efficiency so the gas price wave doesn’t hurt as much. With the EV push it’s a weird time to be looking for a vehicle that will be feasible 5-10 years from now. The EV route doesn’t seem great with the issues mentioned but also the idea of “filling up” on trips. Right now an option I’m looking into is a plug-in hybrid which seem to be gaining popularity. Only problem there is you’re almost forced to buy brand new. If I understand the plug in hybrid you are set to get about 30 miles or so per charge and after that the hybrid gas/electric motor kicks in. This seems viable for me or my wife with our short work commutes but you don’t have to worry about “fueling up”. A note on hydrogen, it looks like Toyota has a hydrogen option that is available in California. www.toyota.com/mirai/

What a magical morning in the woods. As I was walking to my stand this morning a light snow started to spit. By the time first light arrived the woods had turned white. Had what I think was a fox come thru before light and had 2 does come in out of range at light.

I’m heading out to a similar spot this morning. Hopefully the temp drop has them moving but the full moon last night doesn’t hurt me.

That bedded buck was the only deer I saw. I paddled in an hour to a spot that I haven’t been back to before. It’s basically islands in a cat tail swamp. got all set up and saw stand 50 yards from me. Gotta love public

I’m heading out for an afternoon hunt at a public spot. Gonna paddle deep into a swampy area that looks enticing.

Turned into a good hunt for me tonight. At 4:30 I had 3 does come in fast from a direction I wasn’t expecting. They caught me off guard and I couldn’t get an open shot. 15 mins later I had another come in fast and give me a 30 yard broadside. She ran 10 yards and dropped at the edge of the field for quick drive pick up. Had her dressed before sunset and just got her quartered and packed on ice. I wish they were all that easy.

Im back in the saddle again tonight. I had a doe come in about sunset last night in thick cover that knew I was there. Must have me pattered cuz the wind was in my favor. The stand I sat it last night is 15 yards from the fence off a highway so it’s real non-invasive entry or so I thought. I’ve gone to a different stand and entry tonight hoping I can throw her off. Rain should be getting here after sunset. Hope they still move tonight

I’m out tonight on my small private piece. Camera has had a lot of action this week so I’m hoping for some movement tonight.
On a not so live note, got back from my trip the hunt public in southern indiana on Tuesday night. We left Sunday morning so we got two evening and morning sits in. My nephew harvested a BB which was awesome. We kayaked into a couple spots really kind of burned the area out quick after my nephew harvested the deer.

Me and the nephew left northern indiana and made it to our first spot in the HNF at 1:30 today. After a decent kayak trip we were set up by 3:30. I had a small buck come through at 4:30. Followed by a doe shortly after. Both were a little to far to shoot. My nephew also saw a small buck. We spooked several deer on the way out unfortunately but we will be back at the same spot in the morning. Hopefully the cold temps will keep them active.

I have had a single Spartan Go Cam for about 3 seasons now. I elevate it out of reach and angle it slightly down but I think that effects the image quality. I can request a HD photo but that only comes next time the camera sends another photo to my phone. The HD photos are much better but there is still resolution issues sometimes. It’s an older models so perhaps they’ve improved.
The cost is $7 a month through Verizon for service and Spartan also has monthly operational fee called “premium credits” so it works out to $10/month.
I have no experience with other cams but was told that Spartan are expensive. But they do appear to be s good product as I’ve had mine running full time for 3 years without any issue. I have set mine to photo mode and I get about 11 months out of a set of 12 lithium batteries.
FYI -Spartan has some Black Friday deals right now.

Not live but fairly close. It’s been a slow season for me so far. Several long sits with no deer seen and camera has been dead. This guy showed at 7:50 am this morning out of nowhere. He came in real quite and quick and almost got past me. Fortunately I was able to stop him in the last shooting lane I had. It may have been a little longer but from the point of first seeing him to letting the arrow fly it may have been 15 seconds.

I’m on my little piece of private this morning. Camera has pretty much been dead as we’re last couple of sits out here. But I wanna sit in a tree in the woods regardless.
