Other than that, though, I’m sure he’s a great guy…

I saw a buck in the backyard with both sides and one on my trail cam at the lease this week. Both small 4 or 6 pters.

We found two chewed up antlers at my lease. 5 bucks came through the yard today and three were still holding.

I'm planning on hunting IN and OH for whitetail. I've put in for all the east/midwest/south elk draws, AZ elk, and plan to put in for CO and MT elk draws. MT is probably my only realistic chance. Did have my nephew put in for an AZ cow elk hunt which is a fairly likely draw. I put in for several moose draws in the NE but know there's no real chance on those.

It’s labeled on the barrel “2 3/4 - 3 AND 3 1/2” so I should have plenty of options. Assume those options are valid for either barrel?

I've got a single choke tube that's labeled MOD-LEAD FULL-STEEL, so I think that would perform as a full choke with the steel HEVI-shot loads, right?
From what I can tell, Browning doesn't recommend an extra full with steel shot as it may be too tight. So is the choke I have about as good as I'm going to find for steel shot?

I think respect for the animal and other aspects of hunting ethics is a challenging but important topic. I read and really appreciated Beyond Fair Chase and think there's a lot of wisdom in a small book. But he was pretty strong about keeping a deer out of sight during transport to avoid inflaming anti-hunters and to show respect for the animal. I can't say I fault a person with a small car for strapping the deer on top if that's what it takes to get it home. A deer in a pickup bed, with antlers visible over the side, or even in a cargo carrier on a hitch on the back of the vehicle. doesn't bother me.
And I've taken pictures of deer I've killed and posted them on this forum or on social media. Part of experiencing the community aspect of hunting, and maybe a substitute for the deer camp experience I've never really had. Don't like these selfie style shots and agree they're disrespectful. But any of the things I've done or would condone above are probably over a line for somebody else, so is it a pot/kettle situation?
A lot of people on this forum I've interacted with and respect enjoy the "contest" thread every year. It bothers me to think I'm taking an animal's life with something like a contest motivating my action. Do I fault others for enjoying it? Not really, but it's not for me.
And that's completely avoiding all the third rail ethical topics like baiting (where legal) or public land vs. private or one type of equipment vs. some other type of equipment.
I guess what I mean to say and haven't said very well - I appreciate conversations about ethics where we discuss what bothers us and why, and help to create shared mores/norms that can discourage behavior that's ultimately harmful to the hunting community. But I think the argument that we need to try to stick together as hunters as much as possible is true, and for things that are not illegal but just distasteful...it's always good to remember that from another vantage point, any or all of us are offenders of some different sensibilities.

A bow I bought for a friend came with some really short arrows. I'd love to donate them to some place where they work with youth archers, but can't think of any obvious organization. Any ideas?

Shot in the dark - anybody have one they’re not using, or seen one for sale somewhere obscure?
Thanks, Andrew

I was out before first light in Montgomery county. Enjoyed the snow. Pretty quiet morning - I think I was up to 6 shots before I saw a tall fork or 6 at about 8:30. Then had a doe come through at around 9:30 and a couple minutes after, a buck appeared and I shot. Watched him go down about 50 yds away. Not as big as I thought when I first saw him, but I’m very happy! Now doing a slow drag/pull to the van. I’m so weak… ibb.co/gvDy5hn

Had my first back strap steaks from the doe I quartered (that coyotes damaged) and they were fantastic. That’s a relief!

I would shoot all 10 if the opportunity presented it self. And if I had that many bolts with me.... Bonus antlerless limit in the county is 2, so I wouldn’t advise that approach!
