I believe that the guys that run the place said that different pits or areas had different shooting times, so make sure that you know what you’re shooting time was

We were going to go to LaSalle but the guy that scouted only counted 50 birds and then the 4th guy joined us so we ended up at the Grand Kankakee Marsh hunt club. All this was planned outlast Wednesday.

One of the guys cooked bacon and eggs for us . He brought a Colman stove 2 small tote’s with eggs , bacon propane tanks, 20 different types of duck calls , plates , forks, knives and spoons and other items in those containers. And 3 buddy heater’s . That is a lot of extra gear. We were in a canoe so no breakfast. Back then a couple packs of camel specials, Mt dew and some jerky. I need to hunt with you guys who fix breakfast. My goal used to be get enough shooting in so we could get to local diner before lunch. Anymore I can hunt all season and not get enough birds for a daily limit! This was my first time seeing and hunting with these guys and they said that this is how they do it . The boat was filled with decoys, totes , guns , bags and the Coleman stove and the 3 Mr buddy heaters .

This past Saturday morning I went waterfowl hunting with 3 guys that I met on a Facebook group on Waterfowl Hunting . We ended up going to Grand Kankakee Marsh and lucked out on the first pick . We put out 2 Dozen Duck decoys and 4 Goose decoys and a Mojo duck. We did see 3 groups of ducks in about a two hour span but none of them committed to our calling and to the decoys . But it was a great experience and I learned a lot from them . The group of Hunter’s to our right were shooting and a couple of shots rang to our left .

New Chicago , it’s in between Lake Station and Hobart Indiana. The town is around 9 miles long with only 1 stop Light and a volunteer Fire Department and 4 full time Police Officers and 4 volunteer Officers. Yea a small town with around 540 residents. It used to be called East Gary until Lake Station was born and around 1954 New Chicago was born.

He only lives about a half hour away from Jasper Pulaski FWA and I used about a quarter tank of gas for the round trip back to home.

About 2 weeks ago my Waterfowl hunting partner wanted to get out this Sunday morning . We were going to try Kankakee FWA but that was a no go then we were going to try the Kankakee grand marsh but the third hunter backed out so that was a no go then my partner suggested Jasper Pulaski FWA we’ll get get to his house at 2:45 am and he texted me that he couldn’t make it that he started to feel Sick. So now no one to hunt with for Duck so I ended up going home.

I was wondering and needing information about waterfowl hunting on the Kankakee and LaSalle river is there a daily draw to hunt on the rivers ? I know that there are daily draws to hunt on the FWA but what about the actual rivers not necessarily by the FWA areas .

Effective Sept. 12, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS) allowed the import of hunter-harvested unprocessed game from Canada into the U.S. This change came after implementation of strict controls on imports of hunter-harvested wild bird meat and carcasses from Canada. These regulations are intended to prevent highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) introductions to the U.S. You can learn more about HPAI, including information for hunters about safely handling harvested birds, here.
APHIS now allows the import of hunter-harvested unprocessed game originating or transiting through Canada into the U.S. The carcasses must meet the following conditions:
Viscera, head, neck, feet, skin, and one wing have been removed. With the exception of one wing, feathers must be removed. One wing must remain fully feathered and attached for identification purposes. Carcasses must be rinsed in fresh, clean, potable water prior to packagin
