I've always liked Mission BBQ but today they outdid themselves. The wife and I were running errands in Evansville today, we both had a coupon for a free sandwich. So we stopped in, my wife ordered and said she had a coupon, the lady gladly took the charge off for the sandwich. I also ordered and said I too had a coupon and asked if I could also have a free sandwich (thinking that maybe they wouldn't let you use 2 at the same time). She said "sure!", I was mildly impressed with that. We ordered a 3rd sandwich for my son and the lady repeated the order to us, we agreed that was correct. We get our drinks and a young lady is helping us find lids and straws nakins and such. I get the order and it was 2 pulled pork sandwiches and a brisket sandwich. I said wait I thought one was supposed to be chicken? She looks at the receipt and says well it was rung up for 2 pulled pork and a brisket. I said well shoot ok we'll go with that, she asked what the other sandwich was supposed to be I said a chicken slider. She turns around and has a chicken slider made and puts ALL the sandwiches in the bag and says sorry for the confusion, you can have the extra sandwich. I thanked her and told her I was sorry for not catching it when we ordered, she smiled and said no worries! That extra sandwich was good too! Although I never served in the military or on a fire or police department they always seem to honor veterans and first responders, I've always found that to be admirable. Their BBQ isn't too bad either 😉 they definitely get a thumbs up today!

That’s good customer service and should keep people coming back. Not many put the good thing companies don’t there for others to see. It’s usually all the negative things, so good on you for reporting some positive news.

I’ve eaten there a couple of times, once during lunch time on Veterans Day they played the National Anthem and everyone stood and recited it facing the flag.

This all sounds GREAT! We have one in the area, but never patronized them, YET! We most certainly will tho after hearing this.
I have been making a habit of thanking the staff when service goes above and beyond. It's getting to be so rare these days, people NEED to know when their service is appreciated. Positive feedback is always hard to come by. I have also been tipping better when service dictates it.

I believe they play the National Anthem everyday at noon and stand towards the flag. I could be wrong on that one but I believe that to be true. My wife and I also went on 9/11 and a schoolmate of mine who is a firefighter played either Taps, Amazing Grace, or something moving on the bagpipes. He's a little over the top, he wore a kilt while performing. Ha ha ha!

I absolutely love Mission BBQ! I have not not had one single negative experience there. As much as I try to avoid going to Merrillville, work often times leads up that way. I try and stop there when I do.

This reminds me of the Pizza Hut of Ft Wayne owner's business model. If they brought you the wrong pizza you got what you wanted. They even boxed both up for you. We were in the drive up at one of their KFC. My son ordered all drumsticks with his meal. When paid they asked us to pull into a nearby spot as they were out of drumsticks. No problem we pulled in and about a minute the manager was there apologizing for not having drumsticks ready and handed me a certificate for a like free meal. Wasn't 5 minutes and our order was there. Dave Freeland got it.

One I’m wanting to try in Evansville is Lone Star Bar B Que.
It’s in an older strip mall called “Ross Center”. I’ve seen rave reviews on it. The owner/cook is from Texas abd knows his Bar B Que.

He and his wife would dress in very traditional garb. A cousin got married wearing a kilt too. Not his son either but from another uncle who refused to wear skirts! I love a good bagpipe but not sure kilts are ever going to a spot in my wardrobe. I get a kick out of them though. I am not a big fan of commercial BBQ though, just to keep it on topic!

You are probably right. Not that I wouldn't eat it or enjoy it...just usually won't seek it out. I enjoy cooking on the grill, griddle, and smoker at home.
