Update: thing’s went sour and the shop owner refused to pay anything out of his pocket to make up the difference of what the insurance was offering and what we were asking. I had to hire a lawyer and finally a couple of days ago his insurance settled with us outside of court. They kept low-balling us until they realized they didn’t want this to go to court. This whole thing was extremely exhausting for us and has caused hard feelings between us and my sister’s family unfortunately. I guess my bro-in-law thought we should just accept the low-ball offer from his stepdad/insurance, but that wasn’t happening!! Somehow my wife and I are the bad guys in this. Signed paperwork yesterday and should receive a check next week. Just a bad deal all the way around!! ….And by the way…insurance sucks!! This is exactly why I avoid doing any paid work for friends or family. The family that we hang out with and go on vacations with is trying to get their bathroom remodeled. It's too much work to do for free and I have no interest in taking the chance of the project going south and damaging our relationship. I don't even like referring contractors to people I know. Somehow when they don't show up or something goes wrong, it's my problem to solve.

Yeah, you were supposed to take it in the shorts while the ones that were responsible didn't want to take responsibility. I'm glad that you stuck to your guns. You are in the right, no matter what they say.

Finally found a good replacement truck for my son! 2004 Ford Ranger that is in really good shape. It was bought new and spent 20+ years in Florida before coming to Indiana. Slowly getting this exhausting event behind us for good!!

Getting hard to find those Rangers in any kind of decent shape. You’re not kidding!! We’ve been looking for a long time and most are overpriced junk!! Found a good one that a retired military vet owned that was taken care of…Thank the Lord!!
