I hope that Chief Carnival Barker Gaetz and his idiotic minions are happy. I absolutely, positively can’t stand him. He is a weasel..

I'm glad Gaetz did what he did. McCarthy lied .... when he was voted in to speaker position he promised single subject spending bills, then passed a new budget with a whole bunch of worthless pork in it.

While I agree with you on principal, I must ask, just who do you propose is the better alternative? Who will unite the party and also be able to pass the legislation that Gaetz and his posse of grand-standers desire while keeping in mind that the Democrats control the Senate and White House? "No, no, no!" is not the answer when there, in fact, is not an alternative answer that is realistic. Gaetz has made the Republican party look like a collection (as if some needed any help) of disorganized @$$ clowns. I understand the foundation of conservative leadership and governing, but looking out for the "greater good" needs to prevail.

The Senate and House is in recession so nothing was going to happen anyway. Perfect timing to get better leadership than deep state McCarthy. They have plenty of time to pick a better leader. You are right, but that leader might be there for more then this senate time. Who knows who controls on every even year between the House and Senate. If House remains Republican in 2024, then good chance same leader is in charge.

Who is the honest, upstanding politician that is going to unite the party and lead the House? I propose that their (House members) pay be forfeited until a Speaker is elected. Not delayed, but forfeited. If most of us refused to work for 17 days I suspect that we'd be fired, which is exactly what needs to happen to Gaetz.

If I had my way, there would be no USA government or any governments in the world. All they do is put down people and or kill people in the world. Free the world's people of slavery. We are all slaves to a very few that run this world.

Everyone in the bleachers at this circus needs to be cognizant of the following:
1) McCarthy agreed to the rule that just ONE (1) member could get a vote of the whole House to vacate the chair. In effect, that was like giving a gun to someone who wants to shoot you. McCarthy was so self-confident and hungering for the Speakership that he never believed someone would use that gun against him. Huge miscalculation on his part and a textbook example of hubris. Do we really need people like that at the highest levels of government?
2) Democrats screaming about 'CHAOS' in the House are complicit in causing the chaos. They voted unanimously to vacate the chair knowing all the while that nobody else was going to get a majority of the vote for Speaker. If, as some people say, McCarthy was cutting deals with Democrats, why did they want to get rid of him? Obviously they figured blowing up the House was the best way to take it back in 2024. That's reminiscent of the famous quote from the Vietnam War, i.e. "We had to burn the village in order to save it."
3) If the Democrats had been smart, a few of them in right-leaning districts could have voted for McCarthy and thus cut the legs completely out of Gaetz and the other seven Republicans. If I'm advising the Democrats, I tell them to keep McCarthy which punishes and marginalizes the eight anti-McCarthy Republicans and puts them on the sidelines for the rest of the session. Take out the bomb throwers and you neuter the enemy while looking like heroes to the independent voters
