I’m. Somewhat surprised we haven’t seen a pic or heard a story yet as to who draws first blood on a deer this year. Urban season? Or will we have to wait till youth season?

I'm betting on urban season. Hopefully some hunters will be fortunate this weekend.

Luke will be behind the trigger next weekend. Hopefully he can get an opportunity. He is a real crack shot. Any mature deer will be in serious trouble.

I had a 300# brother in law that thought he could do that, he came across a deer hit on the side of the high way. He fugured he'd have the upper hand (he is a BIG dude but a non hunter) that spike had other ideas, he said he eventually won the fight but not until someone cut the throat. A bloody mess was he! He said you would never guess how mean and strong even an injured spike would be. I told him their only job in life is to stay alive and they take that job seriously! If Luke decides to tangle with one be sure to film it. I think it'd be a good match though!

Your rules are your rules, but you’re going to deny a youth Hunter the opportunity at a kill and to get hooked even more if it’s a doe. What’s the difference in cleaning and cutting up a doe or buck if it’s warm weather? Just curious really. Either of my kids or my nephew can kill anything they want this weekend. From spots to a booner, I don’t care.

I'm not enthused about warm weather hunting either. But, being it's a special time for the youngsters, I'll sacrifice any way I can. Breaking down a deer either completely, or partially and finishing later is fine with me. I'll even consider taking one in to be processed if it is good sized and worth it. I got a sore back again now, so that is a real possibility if successful.

From spots to a booner, I don’t care. I'm fortunate to be able to shoot a doe (or have a kid shoot a doe) about any time we would want. Plus, we only have a need for so much deer meat. Given the option, he would shoot a deer any and every time we would go. He doesn't loose interest if we go and don't shoot anything, so I'm not worried about that.
