I live near Lapel and didn't know if anyone else hunts/lives close by. This will be my first year going for deer as soon as firearms season starts.

I don't but good luck on your first time; you'll remember it forever. I took a 1.5yr old buck my first time out on the opening day of gun season and couldn't have been more thrilled. I will warn you though it can lead to buying more guns and then cameras and stands and.......... Oh yeah, then you'll want to get into archery and it starts all over again!

Jeeper..... I live in Noblesville, and have found it VERY hard to get permission to hunt for deer in and around Noblesville / Lapel. I've got tons of fields to hunt geese, but people clam up when you ask to hunt a patch of woods. There are some decent deer to be taken, it's just tough to find the landowner to give permission. Best of luck!

My father-in-law ownes the field behind my house with about 8 acres of woods which is part of about 300 acres of woods so I'm hoping some deer come my way.

If you've got 8 acres that attaches to 300, than you are in business. 300 acres of woods is a TON around here, so you'll have plenty of deer wander by your 8 acres. And, with a firearm, you can just about cover that entire property.

I would suggest pulling up google earth and looking for areas around creeks and rivers etc. That would be your best bet. Both the area's I hunt in Madison Co are close to a water and produce every year. Good Luck!
