And the worst part is there in nearly every single case someone that knows yet doesn’t do the right thing and tip the law off to it. If folks were as lawful and “good” as they claim there would be a lot less illegal harvesting. You are absolutely right tynimiller. Most just let things go, but I tell you too that I know personally years ago we contacted the CO due to a farmer down the road gut shooting deer in late summer in his bean fields and they would run off and die in the woods. When we contacted them the answer we got was "you don't want to mess with that farmer cause he is crazy." This farmer has since passed away so things are better, but nothing was ever looked into. Now one of my best friends is a CO and the only one in the county and he says it takes a lot to prove the illegal activity. Being the only one in the county too they have bigger and better things to look into. Here’s the thing though, whether law is able to do anything isn’t the issue for the reporter to worry about. I know a few COs personally and they always tell me that their files they are working are often from tips years prior, and it is all about building a case. Just because we don’t see immediate action doesn’t mean there isn’t work being done…or as he said no one knows the discussions with folks they have triggered by tips.

He actec like he owned that ground and he gut shot deer off it regularly.. he also allowed people to hunt on it and he did not have permission to do either. He ended up losing the farming rights and has passed on. I keep tabs on that property for the NR owners.

And I do still report any and all infractions I know about whether anything is done are not just because my conscience and upbringing will not allow me to turn my head. These people are poachers taking away from me and you and everyone that hunts by the law. I even report stands that are left on state and HNF lands that are not taken down after the season. Too me this is not right either cause those people are claiming that spot for them on public land.
