I have bald Eagles and Ospreys around the house. They pluck out a fish or two outta the ponds. Coexisting. They have to eat and we enjoy seeing them.

Spring weather and food availability probably have the largest impact on turkey population than anything. Cold, wet springs and lack of accessible bugs for the polts to eat are always a problem. With the cicadas emerging in most of the state this year there should be plenty for them to eat, I hope so anyway. I'm sure it will help if the timing is right. I got into turkey hunting about 15-16 years ago because I was seeing a ton of birds around where I lived. Makes me wonder if the cicadas had anything to do with good survival the last time around?

I hope your are right. My area is down to 4 birds. Two Tom's and two hens. Hopefully, both hens are successful. Since last fall I have not seen any new turkeys around. I'm guessing the area around my area are in the same predicament.

I hadn't seen a turkey since the eagles showed up. Today however, no turkeys and no eagle sighting. Hopefully they've moved on somewhere else.
