As I always do in the morning I let the ducks out and walk along the fence row towards the dogs and pond to check them out but this morning, right when I was coming up on the end of the weeds before I reach my beagle Annie,I saw a rabbit hop in the weeds. I thought oh,easy target. I came in a grabbed the 12 gauge, made sure it was loaded and grabbed my orange hat. Even though it's right in my backyard I wanted to stay legal. When I got back out there I didn't see it. I called to Annie, who was still in her house asleep, because I thought she might need to chase it. After I called to her I saw it hop over on the other side of the fence row and a little to the left. I aimed and boom, dead rabbit. I know ,no pictures or or didn't happen ,but at the time I didn't think of it,not until after it was cleaned and in the frig. But I could go out and take picture of the fur all over the yard and the parts Annie hasn't eaten yet, she's still carrying the head around proud as a peacock .

Sometimes it's best to just live in and enjoy the moment rather than trying to photograph or record every moment of our lives. Congratulations on the easy score!

Yeah I've never been much of a photographer, now my wife on the other hand takes pictures constantly, usually of herself. I keep telling her she's vain but she says "I just want to show others what I look like now". I keep telling her "well you haven't changed any from the last time you took a picture of yourself, that was just last week".

How do you prepare your rabbit? The usual dust in flour and fry? Or do you have some really great recipes like, with gravy, or something way over the top?

The usual way, just flour and fry. I do the same thing for squirrel. Even t5hough this time I'm thinking of sprinkling some spices on it of some kind, haven't decided which kind though.

I've had three easy hunts in the past week.
Seems the yard bunnies have decided to attack Mama's lilac bush and have been nipping the branches off about 6" up and even started stripping the bark off. And we even still have green grass in the yard, no snow, no reason for them to be eating up the shrubbery like it is the last available food source!
Pulled out the Gamo and went 3 for 3 on headshots in 3 evenings just before dark in the last 6 days to thin the herd. It is an old 220 Hunter that came with a 4x BSA. The scope is not clear in the least, but it holds zero. Really need to invest in a better scope for the springer. Would really love to get into the PCP airguns, but I keep spending my money on nitrocellulose burners instead.
Look out for the orange-hatted pellet gun sniper in the bathroom window you bunch of shrub-trimmin' yard radggits!!! Doesn't really do me any good to have the orange on in the house, but rules are rules!!

Already did one with the cajun breading and it was great chowing down without worrying about finding a lost #5!! The other two are frozen and waiting for my daughter to complain that she has not had fried rabbit for a while.

I don't bunny hunt in my back yard. I let them take care of the weeds & tall grass. All I mow is a small patch behind my garage because the dogs in the other yard won't let the bunny's back there.

I would get some goats, but I would eat them, too.

Doesn't really do me any good to have the orange on in the house, but rules are rules!! I've thought about that too. I wondered if I ever got a shot at a deer in the field behind the house from the upstairs window,if I had to actually wear orange too, but like you said, rules are rules

I took the screen out of the kitchen window so that I could open the main window and shoot out of the window opening with my Gamo Bone Collector. I killed a few squirrels and one or two rabbits with the pelet gun before the scope stopped working due to the extreme back and front shock wave on this springer type rifle. It's actually a compressed cylinder not a steel spring. Inert Gas Technology they call it at Gamo. But I too need to get a better scope that won't break down when I shoot the rifle. I may get a new scope if the current scope fails. I have a Walther scope on my gun right now and have it sighted in at about 40 yards. I'm going to shoot some gray squirrels that get into the blueberry bush in the back yard. But I'm at a different house now than before and don't have a window to shoot out of yet.
