Im curious ... what is considered a short season? What is considered a long season? Is there an average season or is the choice between only those two?
And .... I disagree that season length has anything to do with this. Accidents. Negligence. Ignorance. Stupidity. All exist regardless of season length.
I know folks who do deer drives in Indiana every year and have been party to many of them myself in the past.

Deer drives and short seasons are more of a coincidence than anything else. Does anyone think the people who Traditionally hunt deer with this method would change if the seasons were longer or during the rut. --- NOT--- Steve Your not gonna change many going from a short to a long season...... But go from a long to a short season and watch how many start a new way to get their tags filled on the first weekend !

They do that a lot by me in Ohio I hunt less than a mile from OH on one farm. They run from woods to woods in trucks they have guys pushing one woods walking and other guys watching from the truck were the deer run out then they drive like h after them to the side they came out and wait on deer to run by or they try and push them back. Trespassing is so common it’s not even funny. The nice thing is a lot of them get pushed right back to IN The bad thing is they just throw lead who knows how many deer they kill or wounded unless they drop they don’t even go look You must live close to Payne ohio. Lol. Sure seems that's all they do over there and brag to all get out. Get a big one and think there the greatest hunter ever. It's a joke.

Terribly sad. Pray for the family and loved one`s of the man lost. Pray that he had come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Also, a grim reminder for each of us to always be safety conscious. Things can happen rapidly and everything can change in an instant.

And let me guess, zero charges will be filed in this "accident"?

And let me guess, zero charges will be filed in this "accident"? Criminal charges may not be appropriate, we`ll need to wait for the details...

My dad and I did a successful two man deer drive one day during Muzzleloader season years ago. He was hunting close by and when he was done he walked through a brush field. A buck jumped and came my way and it was a buck that I had shot and wounded with my bow a few weeks earlier. It came right to me and I got it. Great memory! My dad and I would do that for each other after morning hunts, back before cellphones just say at 10:00am I’ll slowly start walking to you get ready!
