With the fresh snow on, I just couldn't go to work.
Just me and my old Max.
Made a loop through one of our usually good places, didn't see any tracks in the snow, and only jumped one rabbit. He brought it full circle. Really hard to see much of anything because of all the snow stuck to the weeds. He was bringing it around again and it went into a big brush pile that had been bulldozed together. They are usually runners on this property and don't hole up unless they have been run for a good while.
Went home without firing the 20 gauge, but we both got in a little needed exercise!
Wasn't our best day, but was still fun to get out after the bunnies!!

Now that deer hunting is in my rear view mirror, I'm going to try my hand again at rabbit hunting. Went out for my first hunt last year. I didn't get one but, seen a few. Just didn't have good shots. I have seen several out this season. Including one yesterday afternoon that was hiding under my deer stand and bolted when I started ascending.

When my buddy comes back from Tennessee for a visit, we hope to get a rabbit hunt in at my favorite farm for deer hunting. It has a brushy swale that runs north and south, nearly half of the front of the woods, and several brushy fencerows. On occasion we`ve even jumped a very small covey of quail there.

Time in the woods with friends is a reward itself. Bringing home a little meat is just icing on the cake. Good luck and have fun!

I think, I hope, I am creating some "rabbitat" areas on my property. Several trees down, along with much undergrowth, has kept me busy, but I hope to see some good from all of the work.
At first I was going to burn all of the downed trees to get them out of my way. I've since decided to cut it up to small pieces and make different brush-piles suitable for all types of small, furry critters.
