Great buck, Bill! I hunted Thursday evening at my lease. Watched two doe in the field for an hour. Got within 60 yds but never closer. Took the day off Friday and decided to try some public I'd never hunted before. Spent several hours scout/hunting. Leaves and sticks too dry to be very quiet. Walked up on a bedded 6 pt buck and later scared a few does out of beds. Found a few potential spots but unfortunately some stands where I had hoped to set up, and a trail cam set up by the only big scrape I found. No fresh rubs yet, but lots of old ones!

Going in the am despite the 30% chance of rain at 8am Central Time. Hoping I can sneak in a little closer to where I saw those 6 this morning. I'm taking my rangefinder that I left in the truck this morning to try to take the guess work out of my equation.

Quiet here as well. Just starting to rain too. On the upside though I can see a old dead oak tree with about 10 pounds of chicken of the woods on it.

No activity for me because I never made it out of bed until 9. Guess my body needed the extra rest. Wouldn't be out until next weekend, and the lows as of right now look like low 40's for Saturday and Sunday.

Well im in position. Have used the noise from wind to slowly work across a standing corn field up to the edge of an overgrown pasture. Pasture is pretty thick as its never been tilled and has a few nice oaks in it. Usually see deer bedded here early when the vegetation is still thick. Also a nice fencerow to my left that funnels the deer. Im about 8 rows in looking for deer to stand up and may have to adjust final firing position accordingly. Nice breeze. Nice day. Good luck everyone.

Settled in for an evening sit myself. Raining off and on. Not hard when it does. Was able to slip in quietly. Looking for some freezer fillers.

Well that was cool. Other than not killing, things worked out as i had planned. Got in early. Ended up standing 3 rows into corn. About 5 o clock there are 3 deer in front of me having stood up from beds and are milling around browsimg on leaves and acorns. Closest they get is probably 50 yards. Then they bed down. One doe i can see the entire time and shes bedded wind to back looking in my direction. Had to stand still but they had no idea i was there. Hour before closing time they get up again but I never get a shot opportunity as they work away from me towards oaks. Ill be back again when conditions are right. All 3 were nice and fat and be good for the ice chest.Found a nice brushpile that i will sit behind next time, just on edge of corn.

Waiting for school to let out so I can scoop up my oldest and drop both kids off at grandmas for a quick hunt. Going to do an observation sit tonight.

In the stand. Buddy of mine killed a 150 last night. Sitting over a big bean field. First time sitting on this part of the farm. We will see what's going on.

So by observation sit, I mean I snuck to within 20 yards of an exit from a bedding area.

Was hoping to make it out this evening since I got off work early. The wife put the brakes on that when I had to cook on the grill. Why don't wife's and significant others understand that hunting is therapy us and it helps us keep our sanity?

Was hoping to make it out this evening since I got off work early. The wife put the brakes on that when I had to cook on the grill. Why don't wife's and significant others understand that hunting is therapy us and it helps us keep our sanity? It's in their chemistry to make our minds into mush! Around here, hunting season arrives-"honey do list" shows up. Fishing season time-"spend more time with me" shows up. After 36 years of marriage (to same ol' bat) I still get rooked into crap! I love her and wouldn't trade her for anything..... well, except a nice range finder
