Back out in the city program tonight. My buddy hunted yesterday morning and didnt see anything. Seen a small buck here last week. Either the deer have caught on where they are being hunted or they are really dispersed due to the heavy mast crop. From what I'm hearing hardly any deer are being seen by the hunters in the program and I only know of 2 kills.

I'm up on an oak covered ridge. Set up on a nice looking scrape about 10' from my tree.

A lone doe just fed though. Had her at 35 yards. Needed a little more meat on her.

Graphic post but I sat on the ground this morning, urge to poop hit me about the time I sat down. Finally drew my bow but one of the does busted me and they ran off, they made sure every deer in Warrick county knew where I was though.
After that I went home early to handle business since I didnt have any clothing that I was willing to cut up.

Just shot a good size doe. Upon shot it knocked her off her feet. Thought she was going to lay there and die. She got up and took off. Never heard a crash. Shot looked good. Backing out. Waiting for back up, we'll commence tracking here in a bit.

Sure glad I'm not the only one with that issue, but it helps to keep TP on hand

Waiting for back up, we'll commence tracking here in a bit. Sound like a shoulder blade hit. Or other bone hit. I had a doe get knocked over before. Arrow ended up in pelvis. Easy track but she wasn't dead when I found her. Shot her again while she was bedded. Keep you eyes up on each step.

Had good blood for the first couple hundred yards. Then pin drops. I was on my hands and knees. She never once bedded. Gave her a good hour and a half before we took up the track. The bolt was still in her. Had enough penetration that only the fletchings were showing. I'm back here this morning. Going to do a grid search with property owner. If nothing from there, I'm at a loss. Havent a clue.

My son's first deer he ever killed was like that. We to, were on our hands and knees. Shot it at 20 yards, but we finally found it 275 yrds away. It got down to where all we found was drops of poop. Turns out he shot 1 lung and the bolt passed thru the stomach sack. I wanted him to experience field dressing a gut shot deer, so he did the work and I supervised. I explained to him that shot placement is everything when hunting, no matter the equipment being used. Now with that being said, there are a lot of factors that go into archery hunting and somethings don't catch our eyes until you let the arrow or bolt fly.

If I wasn't down on the southern part of the state, I'd bring my hound to you and we'd help. I haven't had a chance to see how he works yet, but he came from a ranch in Texas that does wild boar hunts.

Deer has been found but...
Went back this morning with the property owner. Performed a grid search on nearly every inch of the 17 acres he owns, only to find nothing. Tried following tracks but that proved difficult with multiple sets heading the direction she was going. A small hardly used road separates the property I hunt and the neighbors land. Upon talking with the neighbor late morning, he informs us his dog came back this morning after being let out with blood on her. A little further investigation and we found her. Not before the coyotes and the neighbors dog had her picked apart. From shot location she made it over a quarter mile. Shot was a little higher and further forward that I thought. Opposite shoulder stuffed the pass through. One lung. I hate it, killing me today. My only hope is she was dead before the yotes got to her.

At least you took the extra time and effort to look. Some would just call it quits with the idea that the deer will survive and make it to see another day. Way to follow through to the end even if it is upsetting.

Great job finding and confirming. I once took a evening doe and decided to wait until morning to track her. I was concerned with the shot. The yotes woke me up and didn't think much about it. Went out at light and found her eaten up. It happens.
