I found a whole pack of these in my garage so I might as well use them up. I haven't shot 777 in a long time, so who has an opinion on these pellets either way? They would be used in a CVA Optima V2.

If it was mine, I'd crush them real good and sprinkle the dust around my tomato plants. Nitrogen you know.

I would not use them in my gun. I am fine with 777, just not stuff I just found in my garage! My garage seems moisture and temperature fluctuations and the like and thus my concern. Last thing you want is a hang-fire (been there done that - it sucks) during the moment of truth or something not go according to plan in your gun. The odds are very low of there being an issue.....but is it worth it? Just my opinion....

By the time you get it sighted in with the pellets you will find out if they are still any good or not. Go from there...

The powder ignites fine, but accuracy has been horrendous thus far. I am not sure if old powder alone could be the culprit. I am giving it another try tomorrow.

Ignition and good burn are two different things.
Just be as consistent loading and firing that you can be and if it is still erratic, then forget salvaging the pellets and buy new powder or pellets.
Especially with 777 I cleaned the barrel almost completely spotless between shots to get the absolute best accuracy.

So last night went to Walmart and bought fresh 777 pellets. Went out today and it was like a brand new gun! I didn't believe that old powder would make that much of a difference, but it was dramatic. I was shooting 3 or 4 times between swabbing and had no issues at all. I think I would still like to go to loose powder just to fine-tune things further. Needless to say, I threw away all of my old pellets as soon as I got home.

Just bought 1lb of 777 FFg loose to fine tune my setup before Saturday.

You ever thought about using Blackhorn 209 powder in your gun. If you do you will never use 777 again. Very clean burning and you can get a lot more shots fired before cleaning and when you do clean there is no stink and cleaning is much easier

I don't know much about a CVA Optima but I would think if it ignites 777 it should ignite Blackhorn. With my T/C Omega and Traditions guns I was using 777 pellets and switched to Blackhorn without any problems. The only thing I don't like about Blackhorn is the price, but I think it is worth it.

I have a cva optima, not the v2, and I won’t shoot anything but the blackhorn powder. Once I switched to it I haven’t turned back. So much cleaner to shoot.

Very clean burning and you can get a lot more shots fired before cleaning and when you do clean there is no stink and cleaning is much easier I used to trade emails with the dude who was the primary spokesman for that powder, Toby Bridges. I was excited about using it due to all the rave reviews I`d read, mostly from Toby. I tried it, and tried it, and tried it, and it never worked for me the way he said it should and would. When I emailed him about it, he had all kinds of excuses why it wasn`t working for me. The last one was that the flash hole on my breech plug must need to be bored out to increase the size, blah, blah, blah. I never went back to trying that stuff, and I never will again. Nobody wanted that powder to do everything they said it would more than me, but it never did work for me.

That’s the first negative review I’ve heard of for blackhorn. Not saying your wrong, just been all positives from the people I’ve spoke with.
