I heard something on the news tonight that they no longer are taking advertising $$ from gun companies.
I guess NRA won't be sponsoring any more races.
Kinda like shooting themselves in the foot I think, unless they want to change their fan base. Maybe with the price of tickets they need to?

That's not a true statement.... you may want to do some research.... bunch of miss information being spread by the media!

Media is saying NASCAR is banning all gun advertising which is not true. It only certain types of guns some what like Walmart is doing with ammunition per other media sources.
Have you see a official statement from NASCAR on this subject? How about we wait and get NASCAR's statement before we start muddling the water?
I am sure you know Hard liquor was banned from NASCAR advertising from many years in the beginning until the late 80ies I believe.

NASCAR should have already issued a statement in response to the stories out there. Failure to do so allows things like this to grow and many people will take it as gospel.

Wonder why none of the Major Sports media hasn't done a write up about it? Some get sucked in easy I guess! BTW.... with nascar on the major sports channels I would assume they have to ok what get advertised also! Seen any rebel flag on any NASCAR lately? Hmmm

They started alienating their fan base a long time ago when they started jacking up the price of race tickets so high that they majority of their grass roots fans could no longer afford to go or take their family. Most major pro sports have done the same thing.

Wonder why none of the Major Sports media hasn't done a write up about it? Some get sucked in easy I guess! It's not about getting "sucked in". There are multiple sources for the story and the one I posted a link to is from the outdoor industry, not some liberal tv station, newspaper or website. Like it or not, NASCAR allowing this story to grow unchallenged gives it credence. What surprises me the most is that with falling attendance, NASCAR appears to be sitting on their hands when it comes to this story and as such are running the risk of alienating many of their fans by doing so.

"Falling attendance "... is going on in all major sports! people are watching from home or social media... changing times are here much like advertising it's seems.
Got any creditable links that show fans are now alienated from some media stories about this subject?

If you think the risk of alienating their fans/customers isn't real, look @ what people have said about shopping @ Dick's and Walmart in the last year. In NASCAR's case it's a much larger risk as gun owners and hunters are a huge demographic not only for NASCAR, but all motor sports.

People said the same things about the Rebel flag when NASCAR took a position on it.
Jjas... many fans as me have been watching this issue when it showed up on social media ..... NASCAR has NOT make a public statement yet! Many are waiting for that. My belief is it's gonna be a position somewhat like Walmart has take on ammo and gun sales ... some allowed some not but not a complete ban as some are sudjusting.
Guess time will tell when their position is made public.... until then we are only reading 1/2 the facts.
Enjoy your Sunday....
BTW the race come on at 7pm today from Las Vegas the first race of the playoffs.

Greghopper
And that was four or five years ago and attendance has continued to drop in that time period. Now, I'm not saying that just the confederate flag issue cost them the attendance they've lost. I think raising prices helped that along. But you p*ss someone off with one thing and then raise prices, it tends to run many of them off.
And...as far as a complete ban goes on firearms advertising goes...nothing I've read suggested that.
I look forward to reading NASCAR's statement (if they ever release one)...
Enjoy watching the race today.

The local (to me - Rt 66) track a few years ago told the Nascar fans that if they wanted tickets they had to buy them for the Nascar race and for 2 other races, one was an Indy car race, I forget what the 3rd race was. BUT, neither of the 2 other races were something that you'd think a NASCAR fan would go to see.
