I wish I had written down the prices. But, we often go to Saraga and Asia Mart in Indy. Both have rabbit, frozen. I THINK it was like $2.99 a pound? I'm not sure that's accurate. Seems like you can just set up a rabbit pen in the back yard and save lots of money. www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/raising-rabbits/meat-rabbits-zm0z11zmat"Rabbits breed and grow so quickly that one pair of healthy does (females) can produce more than 600 pounds of meat in a year. Compare that to the dressed yield of 400 pounds for an average year-old beef steer."

That steer eats a whole lot of free grass. From experience, rabbits are an at best, happy to break even proposition. Cost of a shotgun shell or .22 bullet is a lot better r.o.i with wild rabbits. Well unless you raise beagles. Takes a whole lot to get to the positive r.o.i when you have hounds.
