So long of the short is, I have a squirrel cage blower out of my furnace that I had removed during my remodel and held on to it. I want to place it on top of something I build and blow the air out of the house, thus creating a vacuum on cooler nights right around the corner.
The blower that I have has a high speed and a low speed. I need some sort of switch to put inline from the plug to the blower that has an off/low/hi Does anyone know what this type of switch is called so I can look one up and get one brought from lowes or some place. Thanks to all.

The down side to a three way switch is to shut the fan off you will have to unplug it this may not be a issue with you if it is install a single throw switch first than wire to your three way. This also make a speed control that will fix your issue but will set you back about 100 bucks to buy one but you can run the fan at a few rpm to full by turning one knob

I think what you need is a common dimmer switch. I have used the dial-type to control a cheap drill that I rigged up to power my malt mill for brewing.
I may be wrong, but that's what I would try for $25+/-

I called my hvac installer and asked him about the wires. I believe there is a black white and lets say blue, since I can't remember the color.
He said if you connect the blue to the power and the white to the corresponding wire on your 12-2 then the fan will spin at low speed. If you connect the black to the power and white .......... then the fan will be spinning at hi speed mode.
I would like to have something that I could turn on the low speed setting if I wish since it will be getting cooler at night and have to take my girls into account. If it's going to be warmer and the air flow will help keep them cool then I would like to just switch it over and let it run full boar. Thanks to everyone.
Forgot to mention one thing. I know that i very well could wire up 2 switches inline however just trying to keep it to a minimum is all.

Once you decide what you want run the blower and take a amp draw make sure it’s below rated if not block part of the side of the blower a lot of time the motor free wheels with out a load and burns up. If no amp meter run the fan and see if it gets hot or shuts off on internal overload.
If I were you I would build a cheep box and install it in it with a return register and supply register so no one can get fingers hand in it
I can tell you doing hvac for a living I have and it can cut the crap out of you in a second
FYI most motors. White common. red is low black high blue medium

can't see the pic. do you think you can attach it some other way? so do I want a riostat then? since there are 2 speeds on the fan? Thanks for all the advice guys. By the way my wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting to do this, however when it is complete and up and running I feel she will change her tune about the whole thing.
