Text for the Day -- Luke 16:10-13 ---------- "Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much. If then you have not been faithful with the dishonest wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to another, who will give you what is your own? No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."
Devotional ---------- Jesus often spoke about the relationship of wealth and the kingdom of God. Money attracts our attention. It is at the heart of our attachments to this world for it supplies our physical desires and needs. The kingdom of God is the experience of the presence of God and the gifts of God's grace that lead us to know eternal life, both now and forever. Jesus says that finding the balance between these two realities - money and the kingdom of God - lies in putting one's commitment to God as the first priority.
Prayer -------------- Keep my desire and attachment to wealth and to the kingdom of God in a proper perspective, good Lord. Amen
