Well deer season and harvest are around the corner. If it (them?) is still around then somebody will see it or kill it. There are some very big woods around here, very thick right now, and the crops are pretty high now. You can't see much at the moment
Don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting that feral hogs have naturally migrated in. Rather, I think people are transplanting them.

Talked to my neighbor again today. He said the hog he saw was around the size of a German Shepherd.

Betting it'll turn out to be someones "pot belly" that got loose or turned loose. I agree. I'd say the vast majority of folks that live in the southern counties where hogs have been running wild for decades have never seen one, many don't even know they exist. The ones that grew up wild around here know better than to be wandering around in view in the daylight. That said, I'd still shoot it, potbelly or otherwise..

I tried to put the picture on here but am having, trouble. It is on my phone as a text message, and I need to get it over to my laptop and then the right folder. I got it over to the laptop, but I cant get it to copy. It is not a very good picture anyway.
OoKnowing the guy that saw it, he is a good hunter and straight shooter. True, people around here are not used to seeing them, but it is also true that some a-holes are moving them around. I think, and I hope,I am right, that this just an anomaly.
I put out 3 cameras yesterday, a guy is coming up this weekend with some more, we will see what turns up. There is spilled, corn around a grain bin way off the road that was recently unloaded, put one there.
Frigging cameras! I had 6, but only three would work. One cheap Wildgame got super hot (the 10 AA's) when I put new, batteries in. I smelled it before it blew, but one of connections was white ho and smoking. No Lithium Ion, just ordinary Energizer.
A few years ago I went to retrieve a camera, and at first I thought someone had shot it. On closer inspection, I discovered that one or more,of the rechargeable batteries had exploded inside.

When I lived in Florida, I saw pot belly pigs that were crossed with wild boars. They taste just like pork, go figure. In the South Central part of the state, there are some throw backs to the original Spanish swine stock, that have hoof's like a horse or mule, that we called mule footed hogs. They all taste the same...…….robin

Well I will check the cams in a week or so. Right next to where this one was seen some body has been dumping trash very recently too. The camera covers that too.

I hunt a piece of property that sits no more than 1/2 mile off the northern edge of Parke county. ANY loose hog seen in the woods will be shot on sight.

My neighbor reported it to the DNR, and they were like "so?".
Reporting it to the USDA gets more interest.

Well I checked all the cameras. No hog, but a white German Shepherd, lots of turkey and deer, and an odd picture of a weird looking guy running down our road about midnight, about 300 yards north of us. Not carrying anything, wearing a jacket and ragged pants and a toboggan hat. We are the only house on this road for almost a mile in that direction. Running like hell in our direction.
Just goes to show that you never know what is running around in the dark.
I heard from another neighbor that has seen the hog, around a small orchard. I am going to try to get a camera down there.

Ee need to stop those solar panels before they suck all the energy out of the sun. Windmills would be good but they cause cancer you know... Is Steve Backs still at DNR? He's currently listed as Grouse/Turkey biologist at DNR.

Rumor is also that a guy a couple roads over released some potbellies.
Hard to say, rumors fly. A big tract adjacent to one sighting was leased by a crew from Georgia about 3 years ago. I talked to them. I don't know if they still have it, but...hate to think it...
They were amazed at the size of our deer

Well I have a good picture if I can get it on here. Laying next to a pasture fence with some cattle. Might be a potbelly. Rumor is a guy east of me released several.
