Unfortunately don't know if we will be able to participate we had a few weekends planned but dad had a double stroke and has haulted all plans for the time being. Sorry to hear that. Family is a LOT more important than hunting. Prayers for an speedy and complete recovery for him.

4 more for Team 6.
Walked a new section of woods at Glendale today. Did not have many nut trees. Some oaks and a few hickories. They were cutting on the oaks that I found. None on the hickories. Not many squirrels sighted either. Got 3 grays and a fox squirrel; saw a couple more that I could not get a shot at because I would have been shooting toward the lake.
Realized when I was almost back to the truck that I had also left my phone at home, so no pic of today's bunch.
Personal count is 38.

Left my phone at home too, but nothing to take pic of for us. Saw 2 total, heard several laughing (I mean barking, lol) at us, no shots tho. Heck of a nice morning to be in the woods nonetheless!

Had a new spot all lined up to hunt that the guy says he has given permission to people before to hunt squirrels and then they just don't show up. Says the place is just loaded with squirrels; sees them all the time.
Now I know why nobody shows up... He told me that it would have to be a day during the work week as it is off limits on the weekends. I just texted him this morning that I had Friday off and that I would be there at daylight Friday morning. Apparently Friday is not part of the work week for this guy. Told him that I would likely not be hunting the place either.
I guess on the bright side, it would have been likely that there were great great grandparent squirrels in them thar woods!!

One single for team #4, young female. She was way up there and far off. Perfect headshot with my #1 squirrel getter, a Marlin 25, in 22lr and CCI's.

One more for Team 6. Brings my total to 11. This is a bit long and detailed, mostly because I’m pretty jacked up with this CZ and it’s the first squirrel taken with this rifle! After changing an SD card on a camera, I settled down against a tree to watch and listen for a bit. It wasn't long, and I saw a gray in the tree tops about 100 yards away. I contemplated a sneak on him, but figured that might be fruitless since I'd have to cross a deep ravine that puts me in the open. So, I decided to just wait a bit more. Next thing I know, I see movement down a log laying next to me, almost within arms reach. I never heard a thing and much to my surprise this ole buck fox squirrel was practically in my lap. I didn't move. He continued down the log and then stopped and stated cutting a hickory nut. He was facing away from me, but he was so close I was sure he'd bust me. I slowly raised and rested my CZ 457 in .22WMR, loaded with CCI HP+V's. Now my problem was the lowest power on the Vortex scope is 4X. I had practiced with this rifle from 10 yards to 50 yards. She's zeroed in at 25-30 yards and I've practiced at 10 to 50 yards. My motto for this rifle is "10-Cap. 50-Neck!" What I mean there is anything at 10 yards, I pretend the squirrel is wearing a cap and I aim for that imaginary target. At 50 yards, I aim for the neck. This dude is at something like 10 feet! I steadied the best I could. The image was blurry at such a close distance. Slowly, aiming for the imaginary cap, I squeezed the CZ's trigger! As it turns out, I should have aimed even higher! After all was said and done, I walked the distance off...a mere 7 feet! Laid the squirrel flat out. Never twitched a muscle. As you can see: For a pic of how this happened, I was leaning against the tree where my rifle rests. The squirrel came down the log from behind and beside me. Where he lays in the pic is where I shot him:

Only able to shoot one this morning. Didn't see a lot of movement, in fact I only saw the one. Heard another barking at me, but it turns out it was barking a hawk. Never saw it even after the hawk left.
Had three bucks run by me and a pretty close range. All had velvet hanging. Found some oyster mushrooms.

5 more for Team 6. Rough start as daylight broke and I figured out that it was too windy for the ridges I was hoping to hunt. Walked a ways to get to the creek bottoms to where the trees were more sheltered from the wind. First three were cutting Beech, one looked to be stretching out for a nap, and the last one started barking at me. 4 head shots and could only see back of ribs area for the one telling me off. Personal count is 43. Looks like Tapatalk is back to flipping my pics sideways.
