Looking good, nice and thick. Perfect to hold older deer. Just enough opening for Mr. buck.

I'm jealous, everything is brown and dusty here.

I'm jealous, everything is brown and dusty here. It was getting like that here but some recent rains have greened things up.

Tonight I finally checked climbing sticks, stands, and straps. Good to go. Heading to my brothers place Saturday. Hope to hang two stands and scout for a possible third. No EHD deer as of last week.

Gorgeous morning to be out in the woods working on deer stands. I have to get my ghillie material on my hay wagon blind and put in the chair and flooring material. Then weed eat some trails in and out. Then I'll clean up 2 stands on this same property. If time permits, I'll jump across the fence to the adjoining farm and start stand clean up there. Thankful and blessed to have permission to hunt these places. Also for having such nice weather to work in.

I put my broadheads on this morning to ensure they're flight is that of field points. I would shoot a broadhead then shoot a field point to compare. They are spot on! This is my 40 yard shot. One broadhead and one field point.

Good news! #1 Oak tree stand is up and found a good tree for my 2nd stand. It's in a spot I've haven't hunted in a dozen years. Very thick now after 2013 lumbering. Stand in back yard is up. Just have 1 more across the road.

Mine was coming in great but, field tilers have cut half of it off. The farmer isn't planting this part of the farm any longer so I didn't anticipate this occurring. However, once they finished, he went back and planted some rye for my. So, not a total loss. I have a feeling this new farmer and I are going to get along really well👍

Looks like we need rain badly or our food plots are going to die. We had a good rain the last Monday in August but nothing since then. Woods and food plots are very dry. Here is a picture of a few of mine.

Against my better judgement I did one last card pull at my main spot (with the exception of the camera I misplaced, I think the tree moved).
Glad I did, activity has been way down since August, I know bucks tend to move but its all species. I think once we get some rain itll pick back up, the creek was bone dry.
One buck I was interested in turned out to be a basket 6, never could get great picks of him in velvet. Boo.
Went through last years pics of the general area. Buck movement got really hot 10/27-11/07.

I got real busy the last couple weeks, so my prep has been on "hold" lately. I have several cameras out marinating for over a month now I hope to pull soon.

I have got to use some windex on my windows and maybe oil the doors hinges on my entry door, you know you need to be quiet when entering a shoot house.

Another beautiful morning to be out doing my final season prep. Going to do a tad bit more trimming, remove and clean up mineral sites and make sure I have pull up ropes and 2 hangers in each tree. I'll swap out SD cards while I'm out too.
