🤔 I remember a few thinking this would never happen...making fun of a group that had made mention of this very thing as a possibility 🧐😁.

A bit late in the tear since the regulation books are printed and in public distribution, isn't it?
Oh, why try to save the does if only bucks get EHD? I haven't seen a bunch of doe pictures floating around.
Also, they are going against their own law. IIRC the Special Late Antlerless Seaon had a requirement of the participating counties being a 4 or higher bonus antlerless limit. Shouldn't this map turn off the late antlerless season for this year?

I live in the southern part of the state (where the bonus antlerless season was still going to happen) and we haven't had a drop of rain since August 26th and none is forecast for the next week to ten days with temps in the 90's every day.
In other words, I don't see EHD easing up around here anytime soon, so if the DNR thinks this is the thing to do, I have no issue with it.

It's sad that that EHD is so destructive. Back in 2013 after 2012 EHD outbreak both my brother and I hunted the hardest of all years and both only shot one doe/BB each. Hunted many days in archery and lucky 2nd weekend gun season I shot a BB that I thought was a doe. Most days we saw 0 deer. So by 2015 or so I started investing my hunting in my neighborhood and have not come back to the amount of time I used to hunt at my brother's place. I switched from 80/20 to 20/80. Just this year I was thinking about 50/50. As of last week when I was down there I didn't find any dead deer. Keep praying it stays away.

No matter what was done not everyone is going to agree or be happy but if they drop the 4 counties to a 2 then they need to take the late season out altogether. I am just happy they dropped the EHD counties to a 2. At least that is something.

I’m glad they reduced Perry county to 2. I’ve found 1 doe so far dead and two bucks last year. Still lots of deer pics on my cameras. My farm in Vanderburgh county will be hunted more this year than my Perry county one.

Have not found anymore and still have lots of pics of deer on camera but the guy was going to be my target buck for the year. I have heard of many people finding dead ones here in Perry county. It is a shame.

True...but the anterless season was only for county’s with 4 or more...which currently doesn’t now exist.

I understand and support the drop in quotas. I understand the number picked because of hunters already having the license bundle bought. I don't agree with keeping the late antlerless season with the quotas below the established thresholds. To me, this decision undermines the validity of the season and the integrity of the DNR. It just looks bad contradicting themselves.

Everybody needs to remember the printed booklet isn't the law, it's just a guide.

Everybody needs to remember the printed booklet isn't the law, it's just a guide. Yeah it's a "Guide" or summary to the rules and regulations for hunting and trapping .... It does carry some credibility I would think.

I would hope it does, but I doubt it's credibility is strong enough to be used as an example of why someone could "legally" violated the regs in a court of law.

Guide?.........Doubt most would look up IC codes!

You know the quota is 2 bonus. So you can still kill 4 deer right?

You know the quota is 2 bonus. So you can still kill 4 deer right? If you hunt and are successful during all seasons you can actually kill 6 in 5hose counties with a bonus number of 2. Then of course you can hunt multiple other counties and kill all those bonus deer.

Yes. If you buy bundle and 1 bonus for a county the way i understand it.
