Since last season, I have picked up a .41 mag, a .44 mag and a 10mm. Now the practice and reloading begins. The most accurate shooter will likely be my primary carry for gun season. Anyone else planning on using a handgun for deer hunting? If you haven't done it before it is a blast!

I usually carry a S&W .357. Haven't got that up-close opportunity with it yet. However, I used to hunt with a .44 mag, and had success with it- I also have it to thank for a never-ending high pitched ringing in my left ear!

I plan on taking my 44 mag. out a few times this season. I've killed a few deer with it but it's been a few years since I've hunted with it.

I had a similar experience with a ported .41 mag years ago. I will be trying out some electronic earmuffs this season. So far, so good with the testing that I have done with them.

I've thought about those, but haven't tried any as of yet. I do want to protect the hearing that I still have.

The first deer I took with a handgun was years ago, my Super Redhawk .44 Mag. 9.5”. Brl! From then I’ve taken deer with my GP 100 in .357, my Vaquero in 45 Colt and my Glock 23 in .40 S&W! Not sure what this year will be. Thinking I’ll carry the Vaquero or Glock with handloads depending on my mood for the weapon of choice!

I bought an M&P 2.0 4" in 40 a few months ago for deer because I got it at a crazy low price. I picked up the Glock 20 since then, so I will probably start there, but it is another option. Curious to hear your experience and load too, if you remember.

Curious to hear your experience and load too, if you remember. My last load for the 45 Colt was a 250 gr LRN over 7.7 gr of Unique! For the Glock 23 (Gen4), in .40 S&W, my load is a Rainier 180 gr HPFB over 4.3 gr of Titegroup with an OAL of 1.125. Pushes out in the upper 800 fps. I use a Lee factory crimp on both. I doubt I'll change anything on the 45 Colt. I'm still playing with the .40 S&W. My old buddy jack ryan is teaching me how to cast bullets so we are going to be changing a few things here in the future. My biggest decision in determining what route I go is this: I'm definitely more accurate with the Vaquero and it surely has more knock down power for deer! But, I like carrying the Glock 23 and would like to dial it in and practice a bit more with it! OTFG! (Onward through the fog)!!!

Have not had a chance to let the 500 bark at one yet but really hoping to. I used a TC with a 14" barrel in 7-30 waters. Smashing great deer gun. Used to be my primary deer gun. Longest shot was 150 yards.
