We typically set the thermostat between 74-76. I woke up this morning and the AC was still running and it felt cold inside. Thermostat was set at 76 but it was 65 in the house ( going to be great for the electric bill). I tried to just turn it up higher but it still didn't kick off, or perhaps I wasn't patient enough to let it, and had to turn it off. Could this possibly just be a thermostat issue or is something worse going on?

Being that its still cold in the house my money is on the thermostat or thermostat wires. Id start with a new thermostat first.
Did the AC kick off when you turned off the thermostat?

Ours started doing something similar to that last year. I replaced my thermostat and fixed the problem. It was a fairly cheap fix.

Man 74-76 I’d never be able to sleep. Camper and house both get set on 68 for us. Back to the point I’m betting thermostat as well.

Agree, change the T-Stat. Ours did the same thing a little over a year ago...only it was heat and it was the first time we turned it on for the year. Wife didn't even notice it was 77 degrees in the house. Turns out the thermostat wasn't sending enough voltage to the unit to kick it off. Replaced the thermostat to fix the issue.
