I'm no mechanic, but I'm pretty sure I have identified the problem.

Know a guy that tried hitting one with a hammer. Didn’t turn out well for his windshield

Do they chew on wiring or brake lines?

I'm no mechanic, but I'm pretty sure I have identified the problem. Keep in mind he probably has many friends you not seen yet.... Squirrels and chipmunks are usually the main problem!

The wiring insulation has salt in it and they will eat it for the salt content. This can, (and probably will), cause shorts or grounds. robin

That is a company truck at work. It gets driven almost every day. That groundhog keeps going in the garage. We have had to run him out a few times. We saw him crawl up into the engine on that truck. It took some work to get him out.

Put a few mothballs in pantyhose or something like that under the hood most times that will get rid of them they can’t stand the smell I put some under my decks now and than keeps them out

That’s pretty crazy! Those kind of things definitely give you a little wake up call when you pop the hood! I have a friend in Germany, Jurgen. He said in his area, around Idar Oberstein, they are having a very serious problem with “marders.” These are stone martens, a little weasel like critter that is causing millions of dollars damage to vehicles over there!
