Same thing over and over...............
Our group of 6 which included my son, grandson, two regulars Charlie and Schall53, a new guy from southern Indiana who has never been on a Great Lake and of course me.
Our Captain Bob Hayner trusted our group enough to bring along Bob's grandson who has never set foot on Bob's boat let alone reeled in a fish.
So our crew of 9 left the dock at 6:00 am and returned by 9:30 with 51 walleye.
It took us 35 minutes each way to get to the area we fished which was approx. 3 miles east of Kelly's island. We trolled 16 rods pulling jets armed with Stinger and Yeck spoons.
This was the most insane day of fishing any of us have ever had and I believe that includes Captain Bob because not only did we catch and keep 51 walleye but we also caught and released several Silver Bass and of course Sheep head because we had Schall53 along and those things seem to follow him around.
We had our fish cleaned and we enjoyed some of our catch cooked to our liking at the Crows Nest restaurant. This was our last trip for the spring and it was one heck of a trip we'll never forget.
This type of fishing is not for everybody, it's a fast and in your face kind of fishing sort of like being at a health club.
To give you some idea of what I mean the boat has 8 rod holders on each side we never got all 16 rods in the water at one time and most of the time we were down to 2-3 rods in the water because we just could not keep up.
Photos to follow.

3 on at once, notice there are only 2 rods on the left side because as fast as we get them loaded a fish hits.

Featherduster and his grandson contemplating a successful day on the water. A shot of the "white coffin" full of walleye. Captain Bob said that this age class fish will be 4-5 pounders next year.

When we first started fishing Erie, almost nobody used planer boards or trolled. The standard method was to drift and pitch an Erie Dearie or similar weighted spinner with night crawler and do slow retrieves. I kind of prefer this method as you actually feel the fish bite.
Now the majority of guides troll with planer boards like shown. It's definitely a more efficient way to cover a lot of water with a lot of hardware in a hurry.
